Members of the Museum celebrating a Christmas get together.

Lynn, Adele, Susan, Kay, Frank, Rusty, Dave, Agnes, Roy and Bob.

Members meet every Friday morning at our shed at Jackson Road Russell Island. We also open currently on the 1st Sunday of the month and by appointment.

We are a sub group of the Redland Museum Inc (RMI) at Cleveland who manage our funds and grant money and give training and advice. Dave is a delegate to the Redland Museum Board.

We are guided by RMI governance and management procedures and rules and directions. A Memorandum of Understanding agreement is in place with our chief funding agency the Redland City Council.

In 2012 we will be finishing up our cataloguing of currently held items, storing items in our shipping container and reorganizing our display in the shed.

In conjunction with other groups on Russell Island and under the banner of the Russell Island Association, we are having dialogue with the Redland City Council in terms of a future shared site in the village area near the jetty to be designated as a Community Cultural Centre.

SMBI Museum vision is to one day be recognized by the community as a repository for the European history of the Southern Moreton Bay Islands (SMBI) and be encompassed with individual island collections under one independent banner of SMBI heritage.
