Russell Island accommodation, Motor Inn is located in the town centre near the jetty, surrounded by the calm sheltered waters of Southern Moreton Bay. The Island is only 50 minutes from Brisbane Airport, the city centre and the Gold Coast . It is the largest of the group of islands clustered together between the mainland and North Stradbroke Island. Russell Island is 9km long and 3km wide and has a population of approximately 5000 people. The islands are famous for their diverse fauna and flora and parts of Russell have been decreed areas of conservation and environmental protection by the Redland Shire. The day temperatures are generally quite mild and consistent being 18-22 degrees in winter and 22-32 degrees in summer.

To come to Russell Island you can catch the Island Ferry. The ferry departs from Banana Street Redland Bay (you can bring your bicycle with you on the passenger ferry). If you come by car,the Island Barge departs from Weinam Street Redland Bay. If you are coming from the city, Bus 250 (Ann Street Stop 7 at Eternal Remembrance Shrine), will bring you to Redland Bay and the ferry.
